Horrible place for mother/father and child. Some staff are decent, but too many rude, incredibly nasty staff overshadow them. I will never step foot in this hell hole again. The Human Resources lady with tattoos all up and down her arms barged in on me while I was struggling to nurse my premature baby and blasted me for using a room more than once. She also had the audacity to tell me my child wasn't sick. Mothers, do not give birth at Hartford hospital, as my experience was extremely traumatic. I had two people on my list to be in the birthing room, my mom and husband. They didn't even let me know that my mom was there, or allow her in-they forced her to wait outside! After the baby was born, they only let me hold him for a few seconds before ripping him away from me to the NICU. I wasn't allowed to even be with him until a few hours later! Not only, that many of the nurses contradicted each other-some said they'd call me to feed my baby , some said they can't do that. Also, I had a couple nurses disrespect my wishes to do certain things with my baby. I'm not a confrontational person, at all which made my few weeks stay here the worst few weeks of my life-not only did I give birth to my first child prematurely, but many of the NICU nurses here were just downright cold. I had some incredible nurses who made it the only reason I could cope in this disgusting place. However, the utter disrespect of my wishes, the rudeness, and the Human Resources woman telling me my premature baby is NOT sick just disgusted me to the point that I will never set foot in Hartford hospital or this NICU for the rest of my life. I will change doctors because of this place. It's like walking into the depths of Hell, gloomy and with demon nurses/staff. I'm incredibly angry at how I was treated at this hospital as a first time mother with a premature child. I was treated like a child, scolded and deamened, and treated as if I was a burden and did not belong here. Many nurses were urging me to go home as well, which angered me as I caught some of them trying to feed my child formula despite my wishes to express breastfeed. It's just too much to include in this review, but I urge everyone not to go to this hospital and avoid it like the plague.
